Feynman Lives!

Feynman stamp

Yay!  The US Postal Service has just introduced a Richard Feynman stamp!

I actually had dinner with Richard Feynman once.  (!!!)  Not a formal dinner, certainly; this was a barbeque in the summer of '85 or '86 in Cambridge, at a house shared by his son Carl and some other folks who worked at Thinking Machines and Symbolics at the time.  (Hi LindaM!)  Ah, those heady AI days in Cambridge.

But I was able to sit down with the man over a tasty chicken dinner and talk about some of his recent work.  It was an absolutely fascinating discussion. Of course.

And there's a nice bio on Wikipedia.

Text Messaging vs. Morse Code

The Tonight Show

This is great...  Here's a clip of Text Messaging vs. Morse Code on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

(The clip is available in Windows Media format on the main link, or MPEG format down a little ways.)

Moog articles update

I've *finally* updated my Moog Resources page and my Moog Patents page.

New streamlined look, modern style sheet display and layout, simplified HTML, better equations with TEX images, added a newly found patent, added some more material, fixed some messy areas, yadda-yadda...

Keneally at Don Quixote's
Keneally and Brock at Don Quixote's

Saw the Mike Keneally Band play last night at Don Quixote's in Felton.  Special guest Zappa alumni Napoleon Murphy Brock joined in for a couple songs since he lives nearby.  And they did a wicked version of Inca Roads (YES!!!).

This was a really great show.  Of course.  Keneally is a pretty remarkable musician.

I'd never been to Don Quixote's before; it's a nice little place in downtown Felton, inland just a little bit from Santa Cruz.  A 45 minute drive for me.  The acoustics are good, and they pride themselves on booking a wide variety of musical styles.
